HealthCorps: Educating the Student Body

October 9th, 2008

Today we participated in a health fair for a movement in health education called HealthCorps, about which we are very excited.

HealthCorps, founded in 2003 by Dr. Mehmet Oz, was created to address America’s obesity crisis and to ensure a healthier tomorrow. The HealthCorps mission is to engage and educate America’s youth and families to “Eat Smart and Exercise” by providing them with knowledge, tools and support to make healthy choices.

Recent undergrads, called “HealthCorps Coordinators” provide peer-mentoring opportunities to high school students and lead seminars in health related topics including: mental resilience, nutrition and fitness.
